It works best when we work together

The one thing we don’t do is just turn up on the day and take a few snaps. This page explains some of the stages involved in producing the best images for you on your wedding day.

We hope it helps remove some of the mystery for you, after all we do this all the time and you’ve probably never done this before.

A complimentary wedding photography consultation with James
The first meeting with you we will chat about your plans for the wedding, what your requirements are and how we can best help you. We’ll bring some samples of our work, so you can see the quality. We’ll take some details about your wedding, and answer any questions you may have. It’s all very civilised and laid back and usually conducted over a complimentary glass of wine or cup of coffee on us.
We will submit an itemised quote for you in writing
From our notes and what you have told us, we will submit to you a written itemised quotation. The quotation will contain optional items so you can pick and choose what services you would like, there will be no hidden costs or nasty surprises.
Booking James as your wedding photographer
A 20% deposit books our services and reserves the wedding date. Once a date has been booked we will not commit to another wedding on the same date.
An engagement or pre-wedding shoot
A pre-wedding or engagement shoot will be arranged and completed. This provides the chance for you to be in front of the camera and work with James. Pre-wedding shoots are usually informal, relaxed and good fun. The phrase that we hear more than any other is, “I don’t like having my photo taken”, this session is designed to remove any anxiety you may have about the process. Often we create bespoke guest books, stationery and prints from images and our feedback is that couples really rate the pre-wedding session.
Save the date website creation
Your own personal “Save the Date” website will be created for you, where you can communicate information regarding your wedding. It’s an ideal place to publish photos, dates, locations, menus, seating plans and anything else you’d like to share with family, friends and guests.
Planning meeting or rehearsal at location
Usually shortly before the wedding we arrange a meeting, or attend the wedding rehearsal with the couple, to ensure we have all details are correct. It is also a good time to meet the other people involved in the wedding. Attending the rehearsal will also help us plan shots and avoid any potential pitfalls.
The wedding day
Our working day usually lasts from the morning until the reception is in full swing.
Image processing, web preview and gallery publication
We do endeavour to post a page of selected preview images to our website the next day or soon thereafter. On average we take around 1500 images during a wedding day, these will be copied, backed up, sorted and processed. This can take a few days to a few weeks depending on how many images and how much processing is required. An online gallery (approx 500 images) will then be created where you and your guests can view, download images or purchase prints if you wish. This gallery is usually password protected but can be made public on request.
Album design, and production and delivery
Albums are laid out to tell the story of the day. A first draft is created and will be available electronically for viewing and revision. Once the album has been approved it will go off for production and delivery in approximately three to four weeks.
